HP Toner Cartridges
There are a host of things that can cause your print jobs to come out in less than satisfactory condition. But if you apply some ingenuity, you'll find that troubleshooting HP toner problems is not as tricky as you might think. Here are some common HP toner problems and what you can do to fix them:
Message says "Low Toner" even though I just replaced the HP Toner, this happens often.
You may have replaced the HP toner cartridge with an empty cartridge by mistake. This is any easy mistake to make because an empty HP toner cartridge looks just like a full one.
You may have forgotten to remove the protective tape from the new HP toner cartridge. Another easy mistake to make. Each new HP toner cartridge comes with a seal to protect it until ready to use.
Horizontal white lines in the document.
Some models of printers have a tendency to vibrate and cause the screws on the inside to loosen and fall into the cartridge. Check to see if a screw has come loose and is blocking the cartridge from making contact with the page.
Small black dots on the page.
The appearance of small black dots on a document can be caused by a ding on the drum or PCR roller. Paper dust and other objects can scratch the drum rendering it useless for printing. Your best bet is to replace the HP toner cartridge with a new one.
Thin black lines on the document.
Thin black lines that appear on every page may be caused by a hair or other object in the cartridge or build-up of static electricity, especially in the colder months.
Visually inspect the HP Toner cartridge for any obvious foreign objects or clean the corona wire on the cartridge according to the owner's manual.
The color of the text is light.
If the text on the page appears lighter than normal, the printer may be in "toner save" mode. Go into the printer settings and adjust the setting to Default.
Your document appears smeared or out of focus.
Make sure that the printer paper is not wet or crimped.
Align the print head.
Remove each page from the print tray to keep the pages from stacking.
Check to see if the inside of the printer needs to be cleaned.
The next time that you encounter one of these problems, look for the easy fixes first before calling a repair technician. It may save a lot of money and, if your boss is in a good mood, he may buy you lunch.
